Stockwood Park Event Report

Stockwood Park on 11 June 2017: Bright, breezy and a good day out!

The Chiltern Vehicle Preservation Group organised an annual classic car show at Stockwood Park, Luton on Sunday 11 June 2017. This year the Standard Motor Club was represented at the Show by Phil and Lynda Homer with their 1935 Avon tourer, John Huckle with his Atlas camper van, Stephen George with his 1955 Eight Deluxe and Dennis Willets with his Vanguard Phase II.

The club’s cars were positioned in a great spot close to the arena, the food outlets and market place/autojumble. Throughout the day people stopped to chat, admire the cars, ask questions and compare notes, so the time went quickly. As well as the car show there are other attractions, the Stockwood Park Museum is a short walk from the event field, and buses to the Vauxhall Motor museum ran through the day.

The club’s new kite flag flew with pride (though we took it down later in the day because of the blustery wind) and the sun shone. Overall there was an excellent turnout of entries with a great variety of vehicles on display, from buses to armoured cars. The photo shows the line-up of the four Standards. A good day out!
