I have just been viewing the club website and saw that you are interested in receiving donations of photos of old Standards, amongst other things.
It was my father who introduced me to Standards having owned three of them during my childhood.
The first one was a 1932 Big 9 (which I don't remember as the family bought it before I was born) but I do remember being told it was laid up during the war and was quite impressed to learn that my mother knew how to remove/replace the rotor arm which had to be handed in to the police to prevent potential use by invading German forces! However,I do know that I was taken to North Wales in it as a baby and on various picnics.
The first car I remember being driven in was'nt a Standard, it was an Austin 7, but that was replaced in about 1955 with a Little 9, reg no.
AOV 487 which was the first car I ever had a go at driving (off road for about 50 yards) when I was about 12.
In 1959 I persuaded my dad to consider changing the 9 for something a little bigger and more powerful and along came the 1948 Standard 14 reg.no. GKV 273 which is the car I legally learnt to drive in and after passing my test my dad gave me the car! He then bought my Aunt's 1953 Standard 8. I kept the 14 for a couple of years and then moved over to ..........Triumphs
