Event Report - The Cotswolds Amble

Phil Homer, reports:

The 2023 version of the Standard Register Rally took place last weekend in and around Cirencester in Gloucestershire.

See the line-up in this video.

Standards up to 1931 and their owners gathered at the Royal Agricultural University on Friday. The event is designed to exercise the cars over country roads.

A first roadrun was to Chavenage House, near Tetbury, where the visitors were treated to a guided tour of this 16th Century Cotswold property. This splendid house has featured in scenes from "Poldark", "House of Elliot", "Larkrise to Candleford" and "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" to name just a few.

Saturday saw the Cars set off on another Cotswold Tour, this taking in the beautiful Arts and Crafts Manor at Rodmarton, where another tour of the House and Gardens was laid on.

You can see the cars in their spectacular setting including drone footage. This was followed by lunch at the Oaksey Golf Course

On Saturday evening the participants gathered in the Bathurst Suite at the University for a gala Dinner and Prizegiving.

Sunday morning there was an informal Roadrun to the Bollingbroke Arms, for coffee, where farewells were exchanged and all the cars dispersed to their various homes around the country.

My thanks are to Matt Cannon for his Drone Photography and to Len Barr as the organiser for arranging the whole brilliant event.

Even the weather was (relatively} kind to us
