Just thought you might like to know the experience I had with HMCA, the private health insurance company recommended/advertised by The Standard Motor Club.
I have been with this company for a few years now. I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel (Pins & needles in both hands) Once all the tests were done by GP. I phoned HMCA who were very helpful . My GP verified the problem & I booked in to see the surgeon whom had been recommended at the local Spire Hospital.
A price was given for both hands to be operated on at the same time, for the price of one & a half. If I had one hand done at a time on separate occasions it would have cost me a lot more & I would have been out of action for double the amount of time as well. (It’s not just the supermarkets that do deals!)
I then contacted HMCA, again helpful, no complicated switchboard. They agreed to pay the full amount I was insured for as an outpatient. I had to top it up, but no problem. HMCA contacted Spire who I gather, they have an agreement with guaranteeing payment.
It should be noted that NHS waiting list was at least 18 weeks, this would have taken me into the rally season that I didn’t want to miss! I went in for pre-med & operation at 7.00am & home by 11.00am Operation was a success & no problem with HMCA paying the hospital.
So thank you Standard Motor Club for recommending HMCA for private health insurance.
