New Member joins with Super Postwar 4/8A Saloon

Amongst 18 NEW MEMBERS recruited over the last month is the owner of this

Super 4/8A Saloon

Chris Walkington writes from North Lincolnshire:

I recently purchased the car from Mathewsons auction (Bangers and Cash).

The car had very little paperwork and went into the auction as a non- runner, however they were able to get it running by manually chocking the car. It had an invoice for a Martin Green from Scarborough. It also came with some club magazines.

The car was sold by Mathewsons in 2022 for considerably more than I paid.

At some point it has been restored with new sunroof, interior and repainted. The engine has good compression and no nasty rattles.

The main reason I was looking at this car as another classic is that the registration bears the initials of my late Father.

I have a Red Hot Austin mini which I restored and is immaculate. I have a BMW isetta which is undergoing restoration and 2 classic motor cycles, A Velocette Le and a Frances Barnett. Both in immaculate condition.

Regards,

Chris,

Chris has already made use of the Standard Motor Club’s Spares scheme to purchase the parts he needs to get the car running and back on the road.
