Report on the 2022 Classic Motor Show – The Club’s Stand

Your Club was, as usual, one of the 300 or so Clubs represented at the Classic Car Show at the NEC - running from 11th - 13th November.

A general view of the full stand.

The Stand was manned over the 3 days by volunteers from all over the Country, organised by our Chairman Peter Lockley. Peter was able to bring in most of the Stand display materials in his versatile Goldstar Standard 10, which then provided an attraction on the Stand.

The Show, over 7 halls, was visited by no less than 69,000 enthusiastic members of the public.

Also representing the Club were 3 further cars, the first being the Vanguard Vignale Estate belonging to Robin Wilson. This car is modified by Robin to near TR4 specification and he often uses it to tow his Caravan.

The last two cars were supplied by the Russell family from Derbyshire.

The first was a 1934 Standard 10 piloted by Father, John, and restored by himself.

The Russells brought along two cars, the Companion looking rather better than

when first found!

Last but not least, was the Companion belonging to his son, Shaun Russell. As a reminder, this is the car that was last seen, in pieces, as a restoration project at the March Restoration show.

Shaun has completed a comprehensive restoration in the intervening months and the car now looks immaculate.

The Club stand can be seen in this Youtube video which also admirably captures some of the atmosphere of the Show. NEC CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW 2022 BIRD'S EYE VIEW Pt.4 - YouTube

The Club would like to thank the Members who brought their cars along to display, and all the Volunteers who greeted Members and the visiting public over the three days.

Thank you also to those visitors who made use of the special Club code to buy discount tickets. A big thank you to Jan Henrikson who made it from Denmark and Rolf Branner from Sweden. Hope to see you all at the Restoration Show in March 2023.
