The Golden Jubilee Rally 2024 - Day 3

Sunday 15th June – Static Rally at Norton Park Hotel

Sunday turned out to be a brighter day. The “Weekenders” were joined by Members just joining us for the day, to participate in the Static Rally. All the Cars were parked in their classes on the newly mown grass in the Hotel’s 55 acres of grounds. There was a hum of conversations as members renewed their acquaintances and inspected their “finds” on the bring and buy” stall, which did brisk business.

Members were invited to join in the Concours judging by selecting the cars that they liked the most in their class (except their own!) and the judges added up the scores to determine the winners. The Open Classes and the Master class were judged independently.

The cars were captured by Matt Cannon’s drone and the results can be seen here:

It soon was time for the 50th Anniversary Cake to be cut (actually, the organisers had recognised that there needed to be two large cakes in order to provide enough slices for everyone!)

Then Steph, as our guest for the weekend was invited to draw the Raffle and finally to present the trophies for the Concours competition. And the rain just managed to stay away!

As the longest day of the year was approaching, there was plenty of time in the evening for the participants to make their way home, though the more leisurely amongst us were more than happy to spend Sunday evening in the Hotel.

There were too many volunteer Members involved in the planning and organisation of this event, that if I try to list them all, someone will be forgotten. My thanks also to everyone that contributed the photos to these reports So, thank you, all of you!

If you were not able to join us dear Members, let us just say you were missed,  but I hope this gives you a flavour of the event. Keep an eye open for details of next year’s Rally which will be announced very soon in the Standard Car Review and on this Website.
